“Previously, the focus has been very much on the men, says Weiner. But now that five out of the new series’s 13 episodes are directed by women, and the show’s writers are mostly women — unheard of in an industry where more than 70% of writers are men — and that the sexual revolution is just about to rip everyone’s knickers off (but in a different way), I can’t help feeling that Mad Men is now actually more about the women. Certainly, I’m slightly fed up with the douchey, one-dimensional ways of the lead males; if Don Draper tugs on a fag and pulls that doughy face once more I’ll scream. No: this series, I’m much more interested in Peggy, Joan and Betty, their hopes and fears, what they, as women, are about to achieve.”—From here. (Via gauntlet.)
“Look, I’m not trying knock Marvel for trying to attract or appeal to potential female readers. But the names alone of Models Inc., Girl Comics and Her-Oes just reeks of decisions made entirely by a committee of 40-year-old+ men, possibly over cigars and a poker game. It’s hard to feel like Marvel genuinely cares when they’re releasing a comic called “Her-Oes.” I swear to god it sounds like their next title is going to be Agents of V.A.G.I. N. A. Also, every girl in the above art has the exact same face. But at least that’s just like real life.”—Marvel wants dames.
“'If you want to have a more interesting life, you will make some effort,' is how he put it. 'It's about the organization of one’s life. I am still shocked that so many people are not more creative, by which I mean more demanding of themselves.'”—Pierre Boulez. (Via.)

You can also now ask me stuff. I have no idea why you would want to do that. But Tumblr seems to think you would want to do that, and the Great Tumblr surely knows more than I do. You can be anonymous, although I think it would be a lot cooler if you let me know who you are. Ask here.
