Trailer for Kirby Dick’s documentary on closeted gay politicians, Outrage.

I just watched this last night. I fully anticipated it, but it absolutely infuriated me. Kirby Dick is on a roll making films about topics I’m already so passionate about that by the time I’m done watching them, I’m pretty much ready to lead a march.

In a community that invoked the bible and Christian beliefs in condemning Constance, these homophobes clearly chucked the sacred tome when it comes to loving thy neighbor, hospitality, and general decency without a second thought. To think that Fulton not only displayed rank homophobia, it raised the bar of evil by sending learning-disabled students to the fake prom, clearly labeling them ‘others.’ I challenge any of these ‘Christians’ in Fulton to cite where in the bible Jesus teaches that the physically or mentally challenged deserve to be outcasts.

And here I thought this story couldn’t get any more repulsive.

Long Beach’s Wilson High School organizes a counter-protest of Westboro Baptist Church.

Yes, Westboro is not really even worth taking seriously and, yes, organizing counter-protests gives them more publicity. But the fact that students - you know, those younguns we complain never do anything but sext and watch Twilight and whatnot - organized, on their own initiative, three thousand strong to stand up to Westboro’s message, and, over the course of the day, chased them out … well, I think that’s kind of awesome.

More evidence that the upcoming generation has already determined the course of the gay civil rights battle, and that winning is just a matter of time.
